This week, I returned from a very enjoyable family vacation to Greece, a place of personal significance as it's where my wife’s family originates.
I also put the finishing touches on a dinner keynote for a client.
The emergence of AI has created more opportunities for these dinner events. Often, an executive will contact me to explore how I could explain AI to their broader business, but they soon realise there are other technological implications for their industry.
My keynote address and open Q&A with the seventy attendees is the kick-off for my client’s strategy conference, which continues into the following day.
Here's some of what I'll be talking about. There are four key technology trends from my 2030 Tech Trends research that will have implications for their industry.
These include:
5G and Edge Computing - enabling data to be gathered and utilised at the coal face.
Sustainability and Green Tech – viable and realistic options are becoming available for all organisations. Conscious choices and strategy planning are key activities to be undertaken now.
Reg Tech and Risk Management - technology will automate regulatory reporting and risk assessments, so it's probably worth prototyping some solutions in parallel with existing processes.
AI and Machine Learning – will enable better decisions and increase margin when applied to narrow used cases. Avoid the hype and taking a bombastic approach.
The common thread amongst the four trends is the necessity of quality and relevant client and organisational data.
A structured approach to data realisation has three phases:
1. Fundamental involving governance, management and quality and security for data.
2. Orchestration will likely involve role and organisational changes, and collaboration across various departments.
3. Maturity will see the benefits of the earlier phases with improved analytics, machine learning and the implementation of AI.
The beauty of the hype about AI is the willingness of some organisations to take a broader business approach to how the next wave of technology will enable their business.
These bespoke client requests and conversations are ones I thrive in and greatly enjoy facilitating!
